Why are so many organisations struggling with their technical capabilities?
For organisations with a purpose, making better use of technology can be game changing for efficiency and impact.
The machine learning, data, and AI revolution is unleashing fascinating new threats to study, and overwhelming new possibilities in how we can operate almost every day.
With so much going on, it’s hard to escape the feeling of drowning in the hype and the noise.
How can we take advantage, whilst maintaining focus on the things that really matter?
We can help.
The cost of access to AI and data technologies is in free fall.
Understanding what’s out there, and how to leverage it for success can transform organisations working on complex issues.
Funders and stakeholders alike demand it, but how can organisations deliver when the cutting edge is constantly changing and internal expertise is so difficult to maintain?
With 15 years experience in software engineering and tech leadership, we plug technical gaps for research organisations and NGOs.
Maybe it’s time to get in touch.
When it comes to technology, organisations with a mission know what they SHOULD be doing.
But with the cutting edge moving a mile a minute, how to keep a grip on what they COULD be doing?
Maybe it's time to get in touch.

Technical strategy drives the types of projects an organisation can take on, and how efficiently they can run day-to-day.
We help you assess your current technical capacity and identify areas where technology is having the biggest impact on your organisation.
This could be both in terms of current pain, and opportunities being missed.
We will put together a brief analysis of your tech stack, systems and in house skills, primarily through friendly chats with key people. From this we will work with the leadership to deliver a high-level technical strategic roadmap perfectly in tune with your budget and values.
A solid technical strategy will be a game changer. You’ll save money, time, attract brighter talent, more ambitious funding and ultimately make more difference.
The hardest part of implementing a technical strategy is getting started, and that can mean hiring the right people.
Hiring excellent people isn’t straightforward.
If you find yourself wanting to expand your data or IT capacity, one of the hardest things is evaluating skills that diverge from those you have in house.
All the incentives are for the candidate to exaggerate their experience and ability. Unfortunately, as a result, it’s hard not to end up evaluating more for charisma than competence.
From drafting specifications; ensuring the language and tone of technical job listings are correct and eye catching, conducting technical interviews and evaluating candidates we can help with each stage of the hiring process.
Having hired dozens of brilliant people for all kinds of technical specialist and leadership roles over the years, we bring rigor, experience and professionalism to an otherwise daunting process.
Watertight funding applications with a technical component
When funding bodies scrutinise grant applications that have a technical component, a well written plan with the correct technical language and costings can make the difference between getting funded or not.
We can help ensure applications with a data or digital component are robust and coherent.
Having both put together and signed off on many project proposals over the years, we can help make sure whatever you are presenting is clear, feasible and costed.
NGOs and non-profits face unique challenges when it comes to meeting their technology needs.
The right software solution can be a superpower for you and your team but mistakes in aquiring them are expensive and painful.
Whether it’s a dedicated database, or a custom machine-learning based platform, it’s easy to get smitten by the hype of the sales pitch.
Time and time again organistions are mis-sold solutions that aren’t quite right for them, and are left shackled to an expensive system that is miserable to use, impossible to maintain, and even harder to move away from.
With years of experience of software procurement and development, at all stages of the cycle, we are experts in cutting through the noise.
We start by helping you understand your genuine technology requirements, without getting distracted by the sales pitch. From there we can help with identifying options, evaluating solutions and nailing down a perfect fit for you, your needs, your budget and your goals.
Ridding your team of repetitive tasks.
We can help identify opportunities to save time and cut costs by delegating some of your repeatable tasks to machines.
We’ve found that oftentimes organisations can make incredible gains in efficiency through surprisingly simple scripts that they simply didn’t recognize as a possibility, due to lacking technical skills in house.
We can work with you to automate processes, and provide training and maintenance for ongoing needs, if any.
The future of work is partnerships between robots and humans. Success will be found when we each play to our strengths. Process automation frees humans to focus on the things we are good at and gives tedious, repeatable tasks robots
Creative thinking is where humans shine, so let people focus on that.
